Morning Magic…..

I drove to the lookout yesterday in the near dark and was surprised to see people there ahead of me. We didn’t speak, we just enjoyed the silence of the before-sunrise dawn. Two more folks arrived shortly. We were all there for the same reason, to watch the sun come up.
I love it when the fog lays in the canyon, we call it a river of fog. It’s a miracle of nature that always captures my attention. It’s quiet, meditative, slow and mesmerizing.
But, my heart beats just a little faster in anticipation of the magical moment that happens as you see the sky turn orange and soon enough, you start to see the peek of light where the sun will be. And that’s what we were all there to see. It’s a fairly short process—ten minutes, probably, as the sun arrives , but those ten minutes really are a reverent process. No one spoke, we just took it all in.
On one side of me was the stunning sunrise and on the other side of me was the fog slowly swirling below us. As the fog moved up to us, we were briefly engulfed in it, our view fading in the the brief tussle between the sun and the fog.
The sun quickly burned through the fog and the canyon was suddenly lit up with golden light. Shadows moved down the canyon sides as the sun rose higher and higher. And just like that, it was time to move on. We all did.
But, our day had just been freshly made..full of new promise….. and we got to see it. Kindred souls welcoming our day in such a special way.
Gosh I love living here!
