Making An Unplanned Stop

I stood here in the pre-dawn light. I hadn’t planned to stop by…I had gone to town to see the corn stalks on Main Street, but when I didn’t see what I wanted to in the scene, I left. I told you I went to the mountain and I did.
But I stopped here first. This space, this sacred space for me, always calls me in. it was quiet except for the rhythmic water of the fountain. It was serene. And of course, so pretty. The statue glimmered more than usual. And the lights near the county buildings illuminated the background just perfectly. I propped my camera on the railing and slowed my breathing. Slowly I held the shutter down to take long exposure frames…no tripod, just me and the natural moment it provided.
I lingered— because in my photography it’s about lingering. But the mountain was calling and I knew the light was there.
Someone once called me a night stalker. I can be—it’s a special kind of light. Moments like this always remind me just how special it is.
At any rate, it’s all about “living on the edge of light” for me.
And here, in this light, I do…..
